The Ultimate Collection

The Ultimate Collection brings together the best tracks from Allison Moorer's three albums Alabama Song, The Hardest Part and Miss Fortune.

Allison arrived in Nashville in the early 90's and made her mark with the self-penned A Soft Place To Fall, which Robert Redford chose as one of the musical highlights of his acclaimed movie The Horse Whisperer. That song was just one of the many gems on her ALABAMA SONG debut album.

Hailed as a masterpiece of passionate, confessional country singing. Allison served up more of the same on her second album, THE HARD PART - a fresh slant on traditional country music with her very own blend of torch, twang, and tragedy.

On her third album, MISS FORTUNE, she delivered a comprehensive and compelling self-portrait, as moving and inspiring as it was entertaining.

On Tumbling Down, she covers emotional territory that has always been fertile soil for country songwriters - letting go of an old flame when the romantic torch has all but been extinguished. Mark My Word is one exquisite slice of spell-weaving magic. From its stunning opening acoustic guitar chords and sensitive strings to the breathy intimacy of her first vocal phrase.

Dying Breed is a sad, biographical song about her dad who killed her mom and then shot himself. It’s a theme in this collection’s tour de force, the hidden track Cold, Cold Earth, which in plain and simple terms tells of the anguish of her parents’ death.
