Tracy Byrd Biography
Tracy Byrd is an old-school country singer who walks the walk. He's got that clean-cut, Texas outdoorsman image, and his best weapon is that warm, emotion-laden baritone. He uses it to great effect on both up-tempo honky-tonkers and sad, bittersweet ballads. Signed to MCA Nashville Records in 1992, his first single, That's The Thing About A Memory, and follow-up Someone To Give My Love To (previously a top 5 hit for Johnny Paycheck in 1972) both missed the top 40. He broke through big time in the summer of 1993 when Holdin' Heaven topped the country charts and set in motion a lengthy run of hit singles and gold and platinum albums.
